BUSSELTON SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL REUNION
This website is designed to help us all stay in touch and make any school reunions easier to organize. These pages will be used to post messages, display photos and give updates on future gatherings. It is hoped to hold reunions every few years from now on. Please check in from time to time, and keep your email address/phone numbers updated here so that next time it will be easy to find you for our High School Reunion.
Please email me with photos or comments and I will post them on these pages... so that others can view them... |
Hi there, Well, the reunion is over and all I can say is "What an amazing evening!!!" Thank you to every single one of you who made the effort to come along and share because that is what makes our reunions truly successful. If you guys did not make the effort, there would be no reunion, or it would not be as much fun. I got such a buzz watching everyone catching up, having a great time and talking and laughing.... it was so "worth it"!!!!! How awesome that people travelled so far to come along....or made a special effort to be here. Hope you don't mind me naming names here but Terri Owen (Gillard) - you deserve the highest accolades for jumping on a plane in Vancouver and flying home to attend a highschool reunion! That is the kind of spontaneity and attitude I love! I hope you have a great stay here, however brief, and a safe trip home. The same can be said to everyone else who travelled great distances to join us for the evening.......Joni Teal - from Byron Bay, Mark Guthridge - from Sydney, Sue Sloan (Thomas) from Denham.....and all the others who went to special effort to come along and make the night a success! I hope you all got as much out of this experience as you put in!! (I certainly did!) And to Mr Frank Greep.....how truly wonderful it was that you came along and shared with us..... your memory is amazing.....even when it involves remembering those "transgressions" (as you put it...your own as well as ours!!!) How did it feel to be back amongst "the rabble"??!! Your comments to us about how rare it is these days to see such a lasting bond of camaraderie between a group of students over time, and how much you appreciated that....it meant a lot and will certainly be a common thought in the minds of all who were present. I believe it is not just a sense of belonging, but a deeper awareness of self and of others, and respect for the fact that we do share common ground and are in this (life) together ... that is the unspoken theme that underpins the success of our reunions and who we are. Thank you for attending our reunion and reminding us of just how precious and important our connections are. On a sadder note, I need to point out that organizing this reunion was not an easy task and naturally, there are people out there who somehow, got missed, either due to our inability to find you or anyone who knew of your whereabouts, our inability to remember where you were ten years ago, unfortunate timing, running out of time, or sheer bad luck. Nobody received gilt edged invitations....this was a "word of mouth" event where we relied totally on phone calls, messages, and lots of people talking to one another and passing on messages. We had to trust that messages did get received, and more importantly, that people would follow up on them and take the initiative to find out more. We did go to the effort of putting notices in the local papers which hopefully directed people as well. Especially those who live locally. For those of you who missed out, I extend my apologies, but it was NOT personal, simply a result of the huge task required to find 215 very unique and far travelled people over thirty years of moving around, changing address, changing names, and just life in general. For anyone out there who is disappointed or offended, the reason we now have this website is to try to rectify the situation and make it easier in future to get the message to you. I also want to say a big THANK YOU to MIKE THOMPSON for his role in organizing this reunion..... I know most people associate me with the work behind the scenes for reunions, but Mike was the real motivator and worked very hard and put so much into this event.....I hope that everyone realizes this and appreciates what Mike has done (and yes, that they never forget who Mike Thompson is from this day onwards!!) Mike, I hope you enjoyed the evening as much as everyone else did and feel proud of how it turned out. So thank you again to every single person for your contribution to our reunion... I now look forward to the stories and photos that should emerge from the evening.......and trust you will share them with me.....and via this site, everyone..... CHEERS!!!
Please take care as this program seems to prefer US$ to our own AUS$! Just make sure you check before sending.... and - thank YOU!
